Summer Solstice - Spiritual Meaning and How You Can Attract Love


We have the first day of summer, or what’s widely known the summer solstice On June 21st, 5:54 UTC. That’s 10:54 a.m. CDT in North America. It's the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere as well as the day when we finally feel a new season has finally begun after a long, cold winter. The summer solstice also marks the day when the sun is at its highest point in the sky for the year.

In Latin, solstice means, "sun standing still," which refers to the sun's place in the galaxy on that day. It is a day that has been celebrated since ancient times and is one of the earliest astronomical observations in human history. So, yes, you could say it's a pretty important day. People all over the world celebrate the summer solstice; they hold festivals, rituals, prayers and altars.

The summer solstice has spiritual meanings that we should acknowledge and celebrate. Honoring the solstice can remind us just how precious each day and season is, because the truth of its passing away is also acknowledged. Gifts need to be appreciated, not taken for granted.

The summer solstice is a time of celebration of the sun. The summer solstice is all about light. It is a celebration of the return to light, and it so powerfully reminds us of the light within each of us and the full potential of our individuality as well as united light or Christ consciousness (our cosmic sense of unity). It is about awakening, and reaching enlightenment it is a symbol of unlimited and, powerful ascension and the ultimate triumph of light over darkness.

This time greatly encourages you to open your heart and set out intentions for the future, and embrace the light and our love of nature. This is one of the reasons why we may tend to come out more during the summer months, not only just for the beautiful starry nights and hot sunny days, but also for the energy with the light that the sun brings to us. We can depend on the sun’s rays to give growth to our gardens but it can even send us the same powerful energy to help us grow spiritually and heal.

The summer solstice is also about your relationship with yourself, and inner reflection is a huge part of that. Take a stroll in nature alone, write down your emotions in a journal, read a book or even try talking to yourself.

Summer solstice is when you should feel a connection to the outside world. This is why a lot of current festivals and ancient rituals focus on going outside and being in the fresh air, watching the sunrise, taking a long walk, or watching the sunset.

Bring in positive energy

The summer solstice also brings in new beginnings and positive energy.

Take control pushing away anything negative and start focusing on creative new fun ideas, allowing the summer energy to attract positive energy and beautiful blessings in abundance to your life. What things do you tell yourself or others that are not in order with what you preach? What things do you do that do not serve you, personally and spiritually growth?" Just as the earth brings a new season, this is a time for you to start something new.

Attract love and abundance

The summer solstice is a great time to focus on positive energy, romance, love and abundance into your spirit. Love is the main goal for summer and winter solstice. Focusing on your soul center emerging love to everyone around you. This is a great time to spend some time in the sun (use SPF sunscreen) while you meditate on the things that are most important in your life. You will feel blessed and attract love and romance into your life.

Doing self-care, and showing yourself love will also better help attract love into your life during this time. Nurture your body with healthy, wholesome foods, and do things that make yourself feel good, like getting a massage, or going for a pedicure. Do something that your body will thank you for in the future.

A time for change

The summer solstice signifies change because it’s the changing of the seasons, the way the Earth turns. Life is forever changing, and nothing stays the same. While our time under the rays of the warm Sun is bright and beautiful, eventually we will come to a point where we have expressed and harvested ourselves all that we can, and the time will come to retreat and look within.

Relax and let go

Summer teaches us patience, just like the fruit is green until it’s ripe, you just can’t rush it. Something that is slow, rhythmic will enter into us if we let it and have patience. If we just relax and let go, things will reach their fullness without effort or without us striving on our part.

Finding gratitude in Mother Nature

As we watch the ripening, fruiting and flowering all around us, we can’t help but be feel grateful for the generosity of the mother earth, who gives us what we need so generously. Summer is a wonderful time to discover our earth connection; by receiving her gifts with all respect, taking only what we need, and doing what we can to lessen our impact on the delicate balance of the planet, we nourish and strengthen the bond that we were given something new with the great parent who carries us all.
