The Importance Of Healthy Eating

Happy New Year 2015! It’s that time of year again New Year’s resolutions are being made and one of the most popular resolutions that are being made are eating healthier and clean. Healthy eating is so important for it contributes to all aspects of your life: mind body, and soul.

Healthy eating\clean eating can benefit you in so many ways. It can help prevent diseases and illnesses, lose weight, have more energy, perform better at your job, and release toxins from your spirit. Do keep in mind that clean\healthy eating isn’t a diet but a way of life.

Proteins, carbohydrates, and fats are main components of energy. Protein is an important component for every cell in the body. It gives us the energy to do our daily activities, and to build\repair muscles tissues. Always try to keep your proteins lean and low fat, try to trim any fat around red meats. Such lean meats are chicken, turkey, and seafood. Plant based proteins are great choices too such as beans and nuts.

Carbohydrates are another major component your body needs to function properly. Carbohydrates break down in the body to provide glucose, which is your body’s primary source.

Sources of carbohydrates are found in foods like fruits, veggies, milk, starches, seeds, and grains. Avoid highly processed foods, white starches and refined sugars. Always choose fresh or frozen vegetables and fruits over canned vegetables, fruits and juices. Whole Grains, oatmeal, Brown rice, quinoa, bulgur, and barley, are excellent choices for whole grains.

Fat plays a major component for the body to function, as well as regulating body temperature, insulation for your internal organs and provide energy.

There are different types of fats, Tran’s fats, saturated fat, monounsaturated fats and polyunsaturated fat. Trans and saturated fats are bad for you because they elevate your cholesterol and raise your risk for heart disease. But monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are good for you because they lower your cholesterol and reduce your risk of heart disease. These healthy good fats are found in oils, avocados, and nuts.

Your body needs water to function properly. Drinking water is also essential for it will flush out the toxins in your body. Your brain needs water to keep blood flowing to it.

Another important key is to try to find Foods that are as close to natural as you can get them. The processing of the food is minimal. Clean eating is eating more organic (if available). There are so many pesticides on conventional crops, not to mention they are GMOS (genetically modified organisms).

GMOS are living organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated in a laboratory through genetic engineering. This creates unstable combinations of plant, animal, bacterial and viral genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods. So it’s best to stick to organic, instead of processed foods or even worst fast foods.

Fitness can create a new social energy when you join a gym. You can connect with people like yourself. There are so many different group classes (such as zumba) that are fun and can provide you motivation. Exercising can help promote high blood pressure, increases high-density lipoprotein (good cholesterol) and decreases unhealthy triglycerides. It is also a form of meditation where you can tune into your inner self.

Get closer to God; always pray before making a decision in your life. Humble yourself and pray the same prayer that King David prayed in Psalm 139: 23-24:Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. Our bodies are god’s temple of the Holy Spirit and we are called to celebrate and glorify god in body and spirit. God can teach you how to become a good steward of your body and remove the preventions that keep you from bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit. God will lead you to your path.

This is a diet change for this 2015 changing your mindset and focusing on a healthy eating plan is your goal. Ask friends and family members to help support you on your journey of clean and healthy eating. You will add vitality and longevity to your life.
